Foggy Froggy

If you’re like me, your day is full and packed with activities that require a lot of energy, balance and remembering details.  Some days my head is just in the clouds and I can’t remember what’s next on my calendar without looking at my phone over and over again.  Then, of course, there’s always something I still miss.  My last misstep was not reading through an important message from my son’s school and I completely forgot to send him on his in-person day last week!

So, what’s my deal?  Is it that I’m so busy that I don’t have time to pay attention to details or is it that I’m 52 and my brain is experiencing what a lot of women my age are going through right now during perimenopause, that period of time just before menopause strikes?  It’s like fog on the brain and it’s really frustrating, and a little bit scary.  How long is this going to last?  What can we do about it?

Research shows that this is temporary for most women our age.  Thank goodness!   What we can do is try to get enough rest (sleep is EVERYTHING), maintain a healthier diet with more fruits and vegetables, add in foods with with omega-3s and fatty acids and have a daily exercise routine.  Keep that body moving.  Exercise your brain and your body!!

Learn how to play bridge or mahjong and make lists to help keep you organized throughout your day so you know what you have to get done.  It’s been a savior for me.   All simple stuff but sometimes we just need to be reminded :)

We’re all in this foggy boat together but I see clearer waters ahead.  Stay safe & healthy.  XX
